Sandi (from New Jersey) shared the following information with us about her experience finding and using Mvelopes.
Years ago when my husband took care of the books, I would often hear cries of anguish coming from his study. We would hit times when all spending had to freeze. It didn’t matter what anyone needed (and with seven children there are always needs) there was no money to spare. We could not spend anything or we wouldn’t be able to pay the unexpected bills. We had to keep overdraft banking on our checking account or we’d be in trouble.
Shortly after my husband passed away I knew I needed to get control of my finances. I needed a central place to keep track of bills, spending, credit and I desperately needed a budget. Someone at my church gave a class and handed out information about Mvelopes. I signed up for my free trial and found freedom.
In 15 minutes a day I can see where I am financially. I can keep my credit cards paid currently, track my spending for groceries and household needs, and I can see that money is set aside for each major bill so I never get surprised. And I can pay my bills right from the computer! Mvelopes is also great for keeping track of what my teens owe me! They can use a credit card while shopping or filling the car with gas and I drag it to a “___ owes Mom” envelope and we settle up at the end of the week or month. I’ve even begun saving a little each month for the future and for vacation.
Mvelopes helps me to know I am in control of my money. Money doesn’t grow on trees but Mvelopes does help me to stretch it. I don’t have to worry about surprises or losing track of my cash. As a single mom, it’s helped relieve the stress of handling my finances. For me, Mvelopes is peace of mind.
During a recent telephone conversation, I was able to gather the following additional information from Sandi.
Q: How long have you been using Mvelopes?
A: About three years.
Q: How has Mvelopes assisted you in living within your income?
A: I think, mostly, that it helps me keep track of what I’m spending. It’s really nice to be able to connect all of your different accounts so that you don’t get surprised by something.
Q: How much consumer debt have you been able to eliminate during that time?
A: Probably about $3,000.
